Journal Cover VIDEO tutorial for Finnabair 'Golden Alchemy'

Hello everyone,

It's Marta Lapkowska here.
I am back to you with another video tutorial where I used my very favourite acrylic paints from Finnabair. Those are a must have products, great coverage, fantastic consistency and amazing colour palette. I love them all and it is very hard to pick my favourite.

This month I decided to alter a journal cover. I used new mechanicals from Finabair, resist canvas and some paper flowers. You can see the whole creative process on the video.

Fun and effective tip to finish off your project is to add gold acrylic paint with dry brush.
I hope this video will encourage you to create your own new look of your journal.

Guest Book for Lindy's Stamp Gang

Hi everyone,

I am back to you with quite special project today.
Few weeks ago my best friend was getting married. I knew that one of my special gift must be handmade, preferbly mixed media guest book.
As imagined I created a mixed media cover of their Wedding Guest Book, I used colours that would coordinate with wedding colours.

I started with painting blank cover with white gesso, this was to help me to prime my surface for any medium work.

My next step was to build some texture, I used stenciling and art stones.

When everything was dry I added some chipboard and flowers. Before colouring I made sure all the elements are covered with white gesso.
Next step was to combine few lovely colours that would match wedding colour scheme.

Sprays I used:

I have to say that my friends loved their little surprise gift.

Thank you everyone and till the next time, Marta xx

Mixed media canvas tutorial 'Secret Garden'

Hi everyone,

Did I tell you that I love chipboards from Dusty Attic? The choice of designs allow us to create any imaginery scene on our project we want. Today's make is one of those... nature, flowery scene... feeling of garden or park. Since always I loved projects of Gabrielle Pollacco, she was able to create those most beautiful looking scenes on her canvases.

This project is definately somehow inspired by many of chipboard based projects of Gabi.
I wanted to create some sort of picture frame with flowers.
To create this piece I used only three different type of chipboards! Remember that some chipboards are coming in big size, you can easliy cut it use the way it suits your art project.

I hope you will find my video tutorial helpful and inspirational.

Love, Marta xx

Mixed Media Canvas & Sculpture Medium from Finnabair

Hello everyone,
Today's make was one of those when I was not too sure of the final effect.
For the very first time I used Art Extravagance Clear Sculpture Medium.
I decided to experiment and check out how this product works. I need to admit one thing... everything turned out better than I imagined.

I used very delicate cheesecloth to create my texture. I put my material into a plastic container and covered it all with the Sculpture Medium.
When the whole thing was completely soaked, I put it on top of my reveresed canvas. I started to arrange the material into the shape I had in mind.

My next step was to leave it to dry till the next day.
Some hours later, the whole piece dried and all the delicate material became very hard. My next step was to color it. I decided to use sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang.
When everything was dry, I added some highlights with White Gesso.
To create some special texture and interest I added both sizes of Art Stones attached to the surface thanks to the 3D Matte Gel. Those are perfect tiny embellishments to every mixed media project.

Finally, I added some string, a metal frame and a paper butterfly - all of them also glued with the Matte Gel.

I need to say I enjoyed this process a lot. The Sculpture Medium became my new favourite medium to use. I will definitely come back to this product and check out what else could be done with it.
I hope this project will encourage you to get your hands on this medium.

I wish you a very creative time, love Marta xx
