Art Beyond

Hi everyone,
It's Marta Lapkowska here.
New month and new inspiration. Today I am back with quite a simple project that I hope everyone can do. I used an old computer part which I think had already got great design. I am sure you have some similar items at home. :)
I love using not so obvious and interesting recycled items.

I started by covering my computer part with Black Gesso.

Next step was to choose the colours that would bring my item to life.
I am in total love with new Art Alchemy acrylic paints from Finnabair. I adore the stunning colour palette and fantastic consistency.

I decided to go for reds and pinks with addition of gold. You can check the exact colours I chose in the links at the bottom of the post.
For shading and blending I used White and Black Gesso.

As my final touches I added few new Mechanicals.
These "rusted" pieces perfectly matched my make.

Happy creating!

Assemblage Art 'Imagination' + VIDEO tutorial

Hi Darlings,

Does it sometimes happen to you to create project that surprise you a lot? My today's make for Dusty Attic is just such a surprise for me. At the beginning idea was completely different than the final result. I planned texture, colors and beauty of flowers ... I managed to create texture and had fun with mixing the colours... but also all the rest is no longer so charming as I imagined ... or maybe I am wrong?

I let you to to judge my assemblage piece... maybe sometimes charm and art lies in the scary and not so obvious beauty ?
I hope you will enjoy my full process video.

I used two most beautiful chipboards from Dusty Attic. When I saw them in my DT box I knew I wish to create some canvas with them... I started playing around and then... I grabbed some resins and... my Angel was alive!

'What if...' altered food can + VIDEO tutorial for Finnabair

Hello my dearest friends,

It is so good to be back to you !
I know that it's been a while since my last video tutorial for Finnabair Creative Team :) and some of you were asking me to create a new one, so here it is !

Today's project was inspired by super talented Janka. A couple of months ago she created an altered piece for Mixed Media Place. I loved it so much that it stayed in my head till now.

I decided that I have to use her idea of altering an unwanted food can. ;)
It was challening for me but I enjoyed it a lot.

To create this fantastic texture heaven I used Finnabair brand new Snowflake Paste.
And let me tell you, this is a wonderful medium to achieve rusty and corroded texture for your projects. All you need to do is add some colour !

To colour the sides of the can I used a mix of different Mica Powders from Finnabair.

Additionally, I used some autumn goodies - wild roses. I dried them a little before painting. :)

As my title I stamped some words from Finnabair's stamp sets.
My main focus is a girl cut out from Ephemera - Vintage Collectibles.

I hope you will enjoy my video. Be sure to share your creations if this project will inspire you to make some art ! I hope to hear from you :)

Hugs, Marta xx

Within heart beat - Assemblage Art + VIDEO tutorial for Finnabair

Hi mixed media friends!
Firstly I must say how happy, honoured and grateful I am for continuing my journey with Finnabair Creative Finn. This is a dream team and being here is such a privilage for me.
I am absolutely over the moon that I can meet you all here in the next months and share my love for mixed media.

Do you know what Assemblage is ?
Today I would like to show you my mixed media assemblage piece.

Assemblage is an artistic form or medium usually created on a defined substrate that consists of three-dimensional elements projecting out of or from the substrate. It is similar to collage, a two-dimensional medium. It is part of the visual arts, it typically uses found objects, but is not limited to these materials.

This piece was in my head for a long time. I had kept this old broken telly part and waited for an inspiration to come.
I could see my finished project right away but... it kept on changing while I was creating.

It's special piece... two hearts... connected by wire like myself and my daughter Emily... (you can see her small hand on the video for split second :)

As you can see main telly part was left uncoloured. In my first vision I hoped to blend in all the elements and cover it with some colour. At the end I left the original green and decided to find some coordinating shades and match small findings to my main green colour.

I added many found objects and craft embellishments like metal pieces, chipboards and resin elements.

To colour my make I used new colours of Mica Powders from Finnabair and gel medium.
By mixing gel medium and mica powders you will get a great shiny paint.
As you can see all coloured elements are having this fantastic shimmery shine.
I hope you will enjoy the video!

Love, Marta xx
